What is bike pooling?
Bike pooling is sharing the pillion seat of a two-wheeler with someone travelling the same way, and splitting what the trip costs in petrol. It is the same idea as carpooling, on a bike: the rider is an ordinary commuter making a journey they were making anyway, not a driver working for a company.
Is bike pooling the same as a bike taxi?
No. A bike taxi is a paid service with a fare, a company in the middle and a driver who rides for a living. A bike pool on ZoinZo is two commuters sharing one trip: there is no fare, no commission, and ZoinZo employs no riders and owns no vehicles. The pillion pays a share of the petrol, directly to the person who rode.
How much does a bike pool ride cost?
Whatever share of the fuel the rider asks for, which you see before you request the seat. Finding and offering bike pools is free — ZoinZo takes nothing from what changes hands, and you pay the rider directly over UPI or in cash.
Do both people need a helmet?
Yes. Both the rider and the pillion need a helmet. When someone offers a bike pool they say whether a spare helmet comes with the seat, and that shows on the listing — if it does not, carry your own.
Can women bike pool only with women?
Yes. A Pink Ride can only be offered by a woman and only be booked by a woman, and it works on bikes exactly as it does in cars.
Which cities is bike pooling busiest in?
Bike pooling works anywhere in India — a pool exists wherever two people ride the same way. It is busiest on daily commutes in Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Gurugram and Jaipur.
Does ZoinZo check who I ride with?
No. ZoinZo does not run background checks or verify IDs. What you see is the person’s profile, their bike, their past ratings, and a chat inside the app before you ride, so you decide who you ride with.
